Martin Scorsese’s youngest daughter, Francesca Scorsese, clapped back at internet trolls making hurtful comments on her looks.
Francesca, 26, shared in a TikTok video Saturday that after she re-posted news that she’s landed a role on season 2 of Prime Video’s “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” she was subjected to a barrage of hateful comments.
“It has some of the worst comments I have ever seen about me,” she noted, explaining that while she was used to being criticized over being a “nepo baby,” the hate was on a level she had not yet experienced.
“I understand. I know I have doors opened for me,” she said of Scorsese being her father. “Like, I’m still trying to do the work, I’m still going hard and being passionate and creating and doing the work.”
“But I think if you go on people’s videos and you seek out negativity, you are a very, very sad person,” she continued.
Francesca repeated some of the cruel comments being said about her, including people calling her “fat” and “ugly” and even going so far as to compare her to a “fridge” or call her “Miss Piggy.”
“I get it — I’m not the most beautiful girl in the world. I’m not the skinniest girl in the whole world. I’m chubby, I know it. But like, what the f–k does it matter?” she asked.
Francesca shared that she had already deleted X because of the negativity and bad comments she was subjected to on the social media platform, but now she felt TikTok was becoming the same.
“There’s so many trolls and so many bots and people that just go on to just try to ruin somebody’s day or make somebody feel like s–t,” she said. “This is the kind of thing that causes people to lose their lives, like, your words have power behind them.”
She noted that she’s dealt with hate for years because of having such a famous dad.
“And I know I have a huge, you know, figure, my father to live up to, and like, that always overshadows me as a person,” she said. “But come on, guys. I just want TikTok to be a better place like I feel like it used to be.”
Scorsese, 83, talked about welcoming Francesca later in life on SiriusXM’s “This Life of Mine with James Corden,” in February 2024. The legendary director shares Francesca with his wife, Helen Morris, and he has two older daughters — Cathy, 60, and Domenica, 49 — whom he shares with ex-wives Laraine Marie Brennan and Julia Cameron, respectively.
“It was extraordinary and by that point, I was 56 and it was a different perspective on life,” Scorsese recalled.
“My other daughters, we were younger, we were stronger, you know?” he added. “This was like some special blessing of some kind. It suddenly changed all the values, what I thought was important in life.”
It is not yet known what role Francesca will be playing in season 2 of “Mr. & Mrs. Smith,” though Deadline reported that she’s expected to be part of another Mr. and Mrs. Smith pair.
