Martin Brundle’s legendary Formula One grid walk took an awkward turn when he quizzed actor Hugh Grant about a show he never appeared in.

As the famed Sky Sports F1 reporter made his way down a busy grid ahead of the British Grand Prix at Silverstone on Sunday, he spotted 65-year-old English actor Grant and quickly jumped in for a word.

During the brief encounter, Brundle asked Grant if fans can expect more seasons of television show ‘The Gentleman’ to be in the pipeline.

Only Grant never appeared in Netflix’s action-comedy series created by Guy Ritchie, instead appearing in the 2019 film by the same name.

Speaking to Grant, who was in attendance at Silverstone as a guest of Ferrari, Brundle began: ‘Are you doing another round of The Gentleman, soon, because I really loved that?’

‘Well, I did the film of The Gentleman,’ Grant said. ‘I haven’t seen the TV series.’

‘Oh right, it’s really good, you really must,’ Brundle sheepishly replied before the interaction, with Brundle left red in the face, cut short.

It was yet another moment from Brundle’s iconic grid walks that went viral on social media and was the second of its kind prior to Sunday’s race.

As Brundle sought out celebrities to chat to ahead of the race won by Ferrari’s Charles Leclerc, he bumped into singer Lewis Capaldi, who he mistook for his brother a year ago.

At the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix, Brundle went up to Capaldi, or so he thought, but later learned it was the singer’s brother he was speaking to, not the artist himself.

After realising the mistake that day, Brundle shuffled on and even missed Capaldi’s extended handshake, causing the moment to go viral.

So, with Capaldi on the grid ahead of Sunday’s race, the Scottish singer again extended his hand to Brundle and this time the F1 reporter did not make the same mistake twice.

‘Where’s your bro? Is he on the grid somewhere?’ Brundle quipped.

‘He’s here, somewhere. He’s there, over there. He’s obsessed – he loves it,’ Capaldi said.

Before moving on to speak to other celebrities, Brundle hugged Capaldi and their viral moment from Singapore seemed to have been buried for good: ‘I’m not good at man-hugs, but I think that was a good one.’
