North Carolina’s March Madness campaign has come to an abrupt end following a shock first-round defeat to VCU on Thursday night.
The No. 6 Tar Heels led by 19 points heading into the final three minutes of the game, only to suffer an astonishing late collapse which saw the Rams force overtime.
It was there where the No. 11 seeds prevailed to earn their first NCAA Tournament win for a decade and send one of the top seeds packing.
Their remarkable 19-point recovery is the largest first-round comeback in NCAA history, and the biggest blown lead ever from a UNC’s perspective.
