Temperatures are set to rise again as another heatwave is in store for the UK, with the capital set to face scorching heat.
While the south and southeast stay mostly drier and warm this weekend, the Met Office said conditions in the north and west are forecast to turn more changeable, with showers or longer spells of rain – heaviest and most frequent.

Rain and showers are forecast for Scotland and northern parts of England on Saturday and Sunday, as temperatures sit at a mild 17C in Glasgow.
Temperatures are set to be more variable in the south west and further north as temperatures remain in the low twenties for Cardiff and Manchester.
But in the south it will stay largely dry as temperatures start to increase again.

Sunday’s forecast shows temperatures shooting to 29C in the capital by 6pm, before jumping to 31C on Monday.
Tony Wisson, Met Office deputy chief forecaster, said: “Toward the weekend, high pressure will continue to build in across most of the UK as it extends from the Azores. This will lead to more settled, warm or very warm conditions for many, especially across England and Wales, though some rain may still affect the far north.”

He added: “The forecast for this weekend suggests that temperatures could approach high 20s across parts of England, perhaps 30°C in parts of the southeast, with values of mid to high 20s in Wales.”
It comes as the Met Office marked the hottest June on record for England, and the second warmest in Wales.
Temperatures broke the previous record of 35.6C set in Southampton in June 1976 on three consecutive days last week, with a new record temperature provisionally set in Lingwood, Norfolk, on Friday, as the mercury climbed to 37.7C.
