The race for Champions League qualification is really starting to heat up.
There are four, potentially even five (if you include Brentford), clubs still in the hunt to make the top four, or top five, depending on the coefficient.
The two teams leading that battle are Manchester United and Aston Villa in third and fourth places respectively, and today they do battle at Old Trafford.
They both sit on 51 points, three clear of Liverpool, who play Liverpool later, and Chelsea, who suffered defeat at the hands of Newcastle yesterday.
With Michael Carrick’s honeymoon period at United ending at Newcastle last week, they will be keen to bounce back against a Villa side who simply can’t buy a league win.
Today’s match could be key for both teams’ season. Win, and they will be favourites to secure Champions League football. Lose, and they could soon spiral out of the top five places.
There is a lot on the line.
