Manchester City have joined Arsenal in checking on Elche midfielder Rodrigo Mendoza.
The 20-year-old is a creative player with similarities to Barcelona’s Pedri in terms of how he reads the game and finds pockets of space but is still a work in progress.
The Spain U21 international is also on Real Madrid’s radar which underlines the potential scouts see in him.
City’s Spanish-based scouts have been aware of Mendoza for some time after he established himself in Elche’s first team two seasons ago.
City and Arsenal are well stocked for creative midfielders but always want to be across any emerging talent that could improve and benefit their squads so will continue to monitor his progress and any developments.
Although most of his experience has come in the Segunda Division, Mendoza has made ten appearances this season back in La Liga and scored two goals.
