The gunman accused of shooting New York Jets player Kris Boyd appeared in court Wednesday after being indicted on attempted murder, assault and weapons possession charges.

Frederick Green, 20, allegedly pulled the trigger when Boyd, 29, was shot outside celeb hotspot Sei Less in Midtown Manhattan on November 16, sending him to hospital in critical condition.

The NFL star, who briefly had to return to hospital after being released less than two weeks on from the shooting, is still said to be suffering with ‘complications’ two months later.

According to the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office, a fragment of the bullet entered Boyd’s vein and was lodged in his pulmonary artery before entering one of his lungs. ‘He continues to deal with complications from these injuries,’ a press release claimed.

Green, wearing an orange prison jumpsuit, was pictured making his way into court for his indictment on Wednesday.

He watched on as he was officially charged with one count of Attempted Murder in the Second Degree, one count of Assault in the First Degree, and two counts of Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the Second Degree.

‘As alleged, Frederick Green fired two shots outside of a restaurant in Midtown Manhattan, nearly turning a physical altercation into a fatal one,’ said District Attorney Alvin L. Bragg, Jr.

‘Gun violence has no place in Manhattan. My thoughts are with the victim who continues to heal from this near-fatal shooting.’

Boyd was leaving Sei Less with his friend and two other Jets’ players, Irvin Charles and Jamien Sherwood, in the early hours when they were approached by a group of men who made fun of their clothing, police told reporters at a news briefing.

A fight eventually broke out between the men and he was shot, police said.

According to Assistant District Attorney Sarah Csanadi, Green – a Bronx native – was unmasked ‘before, during and after shooting’, with the entire incident captured on surveillance footage outside the restaurant.

He allegedly then jumped into a white BMW that sped off, and he soon ended up in Buffalo where he hid out at a female acquaintance’s apartment.

Green also threw away his phone, chopped off his hair and fled upstate in a failed attempt to ditch the cops, prosecutors claimed last month.

Csanadi alleged that evidence shows he then cut an ‘extensive amount’ of his hair off in a failed bid to conceal his identity, also changing his phone and deactivating his social media accounts.

He was quickly located and apprehended at the same Buffalo apartment, after police tracked a gray Mercedes registered to his girlfriend, the court heard.

Green did make one more attempt to evade capture, it is claimed, trying to jump out of the window when he realized the situation.

The alleged shooter has four prior arrests on his record, including for unlawful possession of a person’s ID, and criminal possession of a controlled substance.

As a minor, he was also busted for reckless endangerment and had a sealed juvenile arrest in 2018 for robbery, as reported by the New York Post.
