Guy was “a big character with an even bigger heart”, friend Eddie Williamson said

A “devoted dad” who travelled to Spain to watch Manchester City take on Villarreal died just hours before he got chance to see them play, his family has said.

Guy Bradshaw, 35, from Wythenshawe, Manchester, died after travelling to watch Tuesday night’s Champions League clash, using Benidorm as a base with friends.

Writing on a fundraising page set up to help with “bringing him home”, his family said they were “heartbroken” after he “passed away suddenly”.

Manchester City said it was “deeply saddened” and everyone at the club “sends their condolences to his family, friends, and fellow fans during this difficult time”.

His friend Eddie Williamson, who helped the family launch the fundraiser, said Mr Bradshaw was found in bed and there are not believed to be any suspicious circumstances.

The page has so far raised more than £20,000.

“Guy had travelled to Benidorm with his close friends to do what he loved most – watch his beloved Manchester City and enjoy some time surrounded by laughter, football, and friendship,” Mr Williamson said.

“No one could have imagined that this would end in such tragedy.

“He was having an amazing time just hours before his death which adds to the huge shock and devastation we are all feeling.

“Guy was the life and soul of every room – a big character with an even bigger heart.”

Mr Bradshaw’s cause of death has not been confirmed.

Greater Manchester Police said: “We are aware of the death of a man in Spain and we are currently working with Spanish authorities.

“The man’s family have been made aware and enquiries are ongoing.”

The has contacted the Spanish National Police.
