A man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a four-year-old girl and two adults died in a fire that ripped through a historic former station house in a Northamptonshire village.
The 54-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after the girl, a 30-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man died at the property in Rushton on Friday night, Northamptonshire Police said in an update issued on Sunday.
Police, fire and ambulance services were called at around 10.30pm to reports of a large fire at the address in Beswick Close, near Kettering.

Images from the site show a large hole burned through the roof of the building, which is a 19th century former station master’s house at the now-closed Glendon and Rushton railway station. It is a Grade II-listed building, according to the Historic England website, and is believed to now be a residential property.
Rushton Parish Council vice chair Mike Brightman said on Saturday: “It’s a very sad day for the village, losing some of our residents in such a horrific way.”
MP for Kettering Rosie Writing wrote in a post on X: “I am saddened by this tragic fire and my thoughts are with the family and friends of those involved and everyone in the Rushton community. Thank you to the emergency services who attended the scene.”
Following the fire, which was near to a railway track, train services were disrupted because of damage caused to the railway line, according to the National Rail website. Road closures were also in place, with people advised to avoid the area.
