New York Giants legend Lawrence Taylor has finally been released from hospital after suffering from pancreatitis.

Taylor, a Pro Football Hall of Famer and two-time Super Bowl champion, has been in a New Jersey hospital since April 23.

However, TMZ has reported the 67-year-old has been sent home to continue his recovery. He is said to be feeling ‘much better’.

Pancreatitis is where the pancreas becomes inflamed. It can cause severe abdominal pain, as well as nausea and vomiting, and can be life threatening in some cases.

Sources told TMZ last month that they didn’t think ‘whatever he’s dealing with is too serious’ and believed that he’d be released from the hospital soon.

‘Lawrence is getting better every day and is looking forward to getting back on his feet,’ the star’s agent, Mark Lepselter, added.

Taylor’s attorney, Mark Eiglarsh, also provided a statement to the New York Post, saying: ‘At this time, the condition does not appear to be life-threatening.

‘He remains under medical observation and is showing signs of improvement. His discharge date has not yet been determined.’

Taylor, who played his whole career with the Giants, has had a number of health issues since retirement.

He has also been open about his issues with drug and alcohol addiction.

In addition to the two Super Bowls he won in his career, Taylor was a three-time Defensive Player of the Year, the Defensive Rookie of the Year and was named to ten Pro Bowls and a combined ten All-Pro teams.
