The Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIX loss was devastating for Travis Kelce, but it was a sad night for Machine Gun Kelly as well.
The musician, who grew up near Kelce in Cleveland, Ohio, performed in New Orleans on the night of the game, which took place on February 9.
Before his show, he sat in Kelce’s box alongside Taylor Swift, and envisioned a wild night before the game kicked off.
‘At the beginning of it, Taylor was like, ‘Hell yea, we’re gonna come watch you perform. It’s gonna be crazy tonight,’ he recalled to ABC News.
‘Internally I was stoked, I was like oh, what a legendary night this is gonna be.’
Of course, things didn’t turn out quite like that as the Chiefs were blown out 40-22, and trailed 34-0 in the third quarter.

But it was a disappointing night for Kelce and the Chiefs as they were trounced by the Eagles
‘By the third quarter, I was looking at that score, I went up to Taylor, I was like, ‘Y’all aren’t coming tonight, huh?,’ he continued. ‘She was like, ‘I don’t think so, man. I’ll see if I can get him to get out but I don’t think…’
The artist, whose real name is Colson Baker, said that the tight end was his ‘dog’ even though he (understandably) didn’t watch him after his team’s loss.
A year prior, he had been spotted partying with Kelce, Swift and his then-fiancé Megan Fox in Las Vegas after the Chiefs beat the 49ers in the Super Bowl.
They were all spotted at the Zouk Nightclub at Resorts World Las Vegas after Kansas City pulled off a memorable 25-22 win in overtime over San Francisco.
Of course, those celebrations didn’t happen this year after Kansas City’s deflating loss, while Baker and Fox have since broken up.
Following the game, Kelce, 35, flirted with retirement before ultimately deciding to return for a 13th NFL season.
However, he and Swift enjoyed a much lower-key offseason than a year prior, when he had followed her on her worldwide Eras Tour and even made a cameo onstage at Wembley Stadium.
This summer, they were seen at Kelce’s cousin’s wedding and spent time together in Nashville and New York.
Kelce also spent time training in Florida ahead of Chiefs’ training camp, and returned to Missouri in impressive shape.
The tight end confirmed that he’d dropped some weight and his coach, Andy Reid, was also pleased with his transformation.
‘He’s svelte right now,’ Reid beamed. ‘He looks like he’s 20. He’s doing a good job. He’s in great shape.
