Beckham appears to have kept a eye on Littler’s rise to becoming a sporting hero in Britain, but the darts star has revealed how he first accidentally ignored the England and Premier League icon.
Littler’s social media presence has boomed since his first championship appearance at just 16, and now with over 1.6m followers on Instagram is attracting greater interest than ever.
Beckham was amongst those that first requested to follow Littler during the chaos of his first World Championship run and the Warrington-born arrow thrower claimed he accidentally snubbed one of the world’s biggest celebrities.
‘It was during the world championships but I didn’t even see it in my requests,’ said Littler when recounting his social media gaffe with Beckham.
‘I follow him but I didn’t see it.
‘My sister was checking everything to see if anyone had got in contact during the worlds and she found it,’ said Littler.

However, the hilarious interaction didn’t stop Beckham from reaching out again as he was amongst those to offer their immediate congratulations to Littler following his title win over Van Gerwen.
The teenage sensation dominated three-time champion van Gerwen in a 7-3 win to lift the Sid Waddell Trophy and he later revealed what Beckham had reached out to say.
He said “Wow, well done”. I said “Thank you”. Goes to show how well I’ve done for the sport,’ stated Littler.
‘Not only for myself but the other hundreds of professionals out there. But to see the likes of David Beckham watching, it feels crazy.’
