A team of litter pickers from Harrow will be stopping overnight in Ludlow on Tuesday 14 July [2026] as part of a sponsored bike ride from Land’s End to John O’Groats
Harrow Litter Pickers is a registered charity dedicated to keeping the streets of Harrow clean and inspiring communities to take pride in their local environment.
Their ride will take place between 12 and 21 July with an overnight stop at roughly 100-mile intervals and a ‘lunch stop’ at approximately the halfway point of each day’s stage. At each stopping point, the team will carry out a small but symbolic litter pick, to demonstrate that litter picking matters everywhere, not just in Harrow.
It’s hoped that they will be joined in Ludlow by some of Shropshire’s volunteer litter pickers.
David Vasmer, Shropshire Council’s Cabinet member for highways and waste, said:
“It’s fantastic news that the famous Harrow Litter Pickers have decided to visit Shropshire, and in particular the lovely town of Ludlow in their Lands End to John O’ Groats bicycle ride and litter pick. I hope that some of our volunteer litter pickers will be able to join them and celebrate the contribution volunteer litter pickers make to tidying up our country.”
A spokesperson for Harrow Litter Pickers said:
“Harrow Litter Pickers has been operating since 2018 and we believe has grown into one of the most active community litter-picking groups in the country. Our volunteers clear between 12 and 15 skips’ worth of rubbish from the streets of Harrow every single month, and members are out every day of the year. We are passionate about inspiring others to do the same, and this ride is a wonderful opportunity to carry that message the full length of Britain.”
