Liverpool are working on a deal to sign emerging Colombian talent Samuel Martinez.

The 17-year-old attacking midfielder from Atletico Nacional has also been tracked by Borussia Dortmund, Bayern Munich and Chelsea.

Liverpool insist a deal is still to be agreed and no medical has been set but negotiations are ongoing over an initial £750,000 deal.

Atletico will also hope to secure substantial bonuses and sell-on.

Martinez can play as a box-to-box midfielder and is excited by the prospect of a move to England as well as being encouraged by Liverpool’s willingness to give young talents a pathway into the first team.

Atletico believe he could be sent out on loan should he move to the Anfield club in the summer of 2027 once he turns 18. A five-year contract is part of discussions.

Martinez impressed at the CONMEBOL U17 championship last month as Colombia secured a 4-0 victory over Argentina in the final.

Barcelona and Benfica have also made enquiries for Martinez who has been likened in style to former Brazil and AC Milan star Kaka.
