Ruben Amorim is set to take charge of his first Premier League match as Manchester United manager on Sunday at Ipswich Town – but his radical coaching plans could put the fear of God in his defenders, according to Mail Sport podcast It’s All Kicking Off!
The Portuguese head coach has been drafted in from the dynamic, trophy-winning Sporting CP in a bid to revamp the Red Devils after a sluggish start to the season under Erik ten Hag.
Amorim will have to act fast to stop the rot at Old Trafford, with the side languishing in 13th after the November international break.
But his revolution could take some time, with the manager set to introduce a tactical set-up which will be unfamiliar to Ten Hag’s players.
Amorim has typically favoured a back-three, and Man United expert Nathan Salt – a guest of co-hosts Ian Ladyman and Chris Sutton – believes the new manager will look to play in a similar fashion on Sunday.

Salt suggested that Tractor Boys talent Liam Delap would be ‘licking his lips’ at the thought of facing off with United’s defenders, detailing exactly why it could be a baptism of fire for Man United despite a match-up with the struggling newly promoted side.
He also shared his thoughts on the players he believes Amorim will select in his first English top-flight XI.
