Lisa brings with her a wealth of relevant experience, having served as Chief Executive at the Mining Remediation Authority since 2018 where she was responsible for transforming the organisation into a robust 24/7 emergency responder. She also worked in partnership with the public and private sector to support safe growth and development in coalfield areas, expanded services and delivered innovation such as mine water heat.

Prior to this, Lisa spent more than 20 years at the Environment Agency, including as West Midlands Director and National spokesperson with significant responsibility for waste and environmental crime enforcement alongside working closely with business.

Joining chair Matthew Taylor, she will begin her role at the Fair Work Agency from April, bringing together three existing enforcement bodies to create a single agency which ends the current fragmented system of employment rights enforcement.

Responding to her appointment, incoming Fair Work Agency CEO Lisa Pinney MBE said

“I am thrilled to be joining the Fair Work Agency at such an exciting moment.

“I look forward to working with Matthew, the Advisory Board, our colleagues and partners to develop the opportunity of the new organisation to support workers, simplify compliance for businesses and ensure fair and lawful treatment for all.”

Matthew Taylor, Chair of the Fair Work Agency, said

“I am delighted to welcome Lisa to the Fair Work Agency.

“I look forward to working with her as we launch in April and forge ahead with creating and establishing an Agency that streamlines the enforcement of employment rights, improving the lives of workers and creating a better system for businesses”

Employment Rights Minister Kate Dearden said

“Lisa will be a great addition to the Fair Work Agency, bringing a strong track record of leading large enforcement organisations and tackling rule breakers head on.

“Under Lisa and Matthew’s leadership, the Fair Work Agency will play a vital role in delivering our Plan to Make Work Pay — ensuring workers get the rights and protections they are entitled to, while creating a simpler, fairer system and source of advice for employers.”
