Leicester midfielder Harry Winks was involved in a heated confrontation with supporters after their latest defeat saw the club facing back-to-back relegations to League One.

The Foxes were beaten 1-0 by Portsmouth in an early kick-off on Saturday, with the result leaving them adrift in the Championship.

Defeat left Gary Rowett’s side five points behind West Brom, who occupied 21st place, ahead of the Baggies kick-off at 3pm.

Leicester’s plight worsened when West Brom earned a 2-0 victory against Preston, with the Foxes now eight points behind Blackburn and safety.

With the Foxes only having nine points to play for, the club appear destined for back-to-back relegations after dropping out of the top flight last season.

Having begun the season among the favourites for promotion, it would mark a shock relegation and would fall a decade on from their stunning Premier League title win.

Furious fans had gathered close to the Leicester coach following their latest defeat at Fratton Park to vent their anger at the club’s plight.

One fan was heard shouting ‘f*** off’ to Winks, who is among the highest earners in the Championship on £90,000-a-week, as the former England international made his way onto the coach.

Footage shared on social media showed Winks turning back to face the fans, with the Leicester player appearing to respond by shouting ‘f*** off, shut up, f*** off’.

A member of staff was seen encouraging Winks to get onto the coach amid the heated exchange.

Winks had played the duration of the 1-0 defeat at Portsmouth, his 33rd appearance of Leicester’s miserable season.

The midfielder, who joined Leicester for a reported £10m from Tottenham in 2023, was part of the Foxes’ team that earned promoted back to the Premier League in 2024.

The promotion reportedly saw Winks’ contract automatically extended until 2027.

Winks now looks set to be part of consecutive relegations with Leicester, which would see the club feature in the third tier for just the second time.
