Veteran CBS announcer Jim Nantz was seen wiping away tears in the crowd after Houston’s stunning March Madness comeback against Duke on Saturday night.
The Cougars trailed by as much as 14 points in the second half of their Final Four showdown with the Blue Devils, before an incredible revival stunned Cooper Flagg and his freshman teammates in the final two minutes.
The victory means Houston is now gearing up for its first national title game for over 40 years, with the Florida Gators the final team standing in their way of a historic championship.
And after their win on Saturday, an overjoyed Nantz was captured looking emotional at the Alamodome in San Antonio, Texas.
The former voice of March Madness, who called his final college basketball game in the 2023 Final Four, is a Houston alumnus after playing golf at the school and graduating there in 1981.
Having recently called time on his iconic stint as lead announcer, Nantz was able to soak up his former college’s historic victory as a fan in the stands.

The 65-year-old spent over three decades calling March Madness games for CBS after debuting in 1990, after enjoying three years as an NBA announcer on the network.
To this day Nantz still covers golf’s PGA Tour, the Masters and NFL games, while he has previously called college football and US Open tennis fixtures.
His beloved Houston, who are enjoying an 18-game winning streak, is in its first national championship game since back-to-back appearances in 1983 and 1984 during the Phi Slama Jama era.
They have won 30 of their last 31 games since two overtime losses over three days in a tournament in Las Vegas at the end of November.
Their only loss since was 82-81 in overtime on February 1 to Texas Tech, an Elite Eight team. Houston’s other loss this season was a 74-69 defeat to Auburn in the second game.
