Lamine Yamal has signed a new contract at Barcelona which will keep him at the club until 2031.
His previous deal was set to expire next summer, meaning the Blaugrana made offering a new deal to Yamal, who is still just 17, a priority.
Per ESPN, the deal has come with a ‘significant’ pay-rise to reflect the winger’s status as one of Hansi Flick’s most important players this season.
Yamal made his first team debut aged just 15 in 2023 and enjoyed a rapid rise to quickly establish himself as one of the best players in the world.
He helped Spain to win the Euros last summer and was a pivotal figure in Barca’s domestic treble-winning side throughout 2024-25.
The youngster racked up 18 goals and 25 assists in 55 appearances across all competitions as his side reached the semi-finals of the Champions League.

Reports indicate that the deal has come with a significant pay-rise
His deal had been due to expire in 2026 because he was only allowed to pen one for a maximum of three years as he was under 18 when signing his first professional contract.
However, because he will turn 18 in July, he can sign a longer contract – which was finalised after discussions with his agent Jorge Mendes.
Mendes had met with the Catalan outfit’s club president Joan Laporta earlier this week to iron out the finer parts of negotiations.
Laporta previously told Catalan outlet TV3: ‘There is always some suffering involved,’ Laporta told TV3 when asked for an update on negotiations to prolong the forward’s contract.
‘It’s been discussed, but it’s not signed. Lamine’s a great player, an extraordinary person and is already very mature.
‘There are good feelings with his representatives and with his family. His agent, Mendes, advises him well.
‘It will end well. He’s grown up here, he’s Catalan and he’s a Barca fan. He’s happy in Barcelona and is destined to be the best player in the world.’
The club’s sporting director Deco had also previously remarked that extending Yamal’s contract would be ‘the best signing’ the club have made in years.
Reports added that Yamal wanted the issue resolved as soon as possible before he left for his holidays during this summer’s off-season.
That will come after his participation in June’s Nations League Final Four event.
Yamal has already made history by becoming the youngest player to reach 100 appearances for his boyhood side after rising through the ranks at their famed La Masia academy.
Yamal’s extension is the latest internal deal to be penned by Barca, who have also extended the contract of their manager Flick and Yamal’s fellow attacking star Raphinha – with the Brazilian having scored 34 goals and registered 25 assists in 56 appearances this season.
