Two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion Kyle Busch has been hospitalized with a severe illness and will not compete in the Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte Motor Speedway this weekend.
His family announced the news on social media, requesting privacy during his treatment, and Austin Hill is set to replace him in the No. 8 Chevrolet.
This marks the first time in over a decade that Busch has been absent from a Cup Series race, with his last significant absence occurring in 2015 due to injuries.
Richard Childress Racing, Busch’s team, released a statement affirming their full support for his health and wishing him a safe and speedy recovery.
Busch, a formidable figure in NASCAR with 234 career wins, is currently ranked 24th in the Cup Series standings this season.
