Kristi Noem appeared with President Donald Trump in her new foreign policy-focused role — just days after her abrupt dismissal as Homeland Security secretary.
On Saturday, Noem joined Trump and other senior officials in Doral, Florida, for a meeting with leaders from several South American nations to discuss the newly launched “Shield of the Americas,” a coalition focused on strengthening security cooperation across the Western Hemisphere.
Trump tapped Noem to serve as a special envoy to the initiative on Thursday, after he fired her from DHS, following months of controversies surrounding her tenure.
During the event, Noem delivered brief remarks alongside Secretary of State Marco Rubio. She repeatedly expressed gratitude to and praise for the president.
“First of all, I offer thanks to our president who had the vision to bring all of you as world leaders here, not just protecting your countries but also protecting your neighbours, and the Shield of America is becoming a real vision,” she said.
Corey Lewandowski, the DHS staffer Noem is rumored to be having an affair with, was seen nearby, according to The Daily Beast. Noem has dismissed the allegations of infidelity as “garbage.”
This is a breaking story…
