New York Knicks star Josh Hart will forever be in teammate OG Anunoby’s debt.
Anunoby charged after Jalen Brunson’s 3-point attempt and tipped the rebound into the net with 1.2 seconds to seal a historic comeback victory for the Knicks in a dramatic Game 4 against the San Antonio Spurs.
The shot sent New York City into pandemonium as euphoric celebrations erupted throughout the five boroughs. It also left Hart breathing a huge sigh of relief.
Inside the final two minutes with New York trailing by one point, Hart had gotten the steal, intercepting San Antonio guard De’Aaron Fox. He got out on a fast break, charging to the basket with a wide-open path.
But he fumbled the shot. Seemingly caught between opting for a half-layup, half-dunk, Hart’s attempt caught the back iron, denying the Knicks crucial points.
Just a few possessions later, Stephon Castle beat him to an offensive rebound before Hart fouled the young guard. Castle made both his free throws to put the Spurs back in the lead with 30.3 seconds remaining.

However, Anunoby’s clutch bucket in the dying seconds of the game, saved Hart – and the Knicks – from a ‘lifetime of regret.’
‘I’ve got a special shout-out for OG, man, because he saved me, at least for this game, a lifetime of regret,’ Hart said after the record comeback.
‘I’m sitting there just hoping my guys make a play,’ Hart said. ‘And OG, he’s been amazing since he’s got here. This whole playoff run, he’s been amazing on both ends of the ball. He’s a winning player and he made a winning play.’
Hart won a championship alongside Knicks teammates Jalen Brunson and Mikal Bridges during their time at Villanova and he admitted that Wednesday night’s win was up there with one of his best moments on the court.
‘I won a national championship in 2016. [Jalen Brunson] and [Mikal Bridges] will probably remind you that I only have one and they have two,’ said Hart. ‘So that night is No. 1. This one is definitely No. 2.’
NBA legend Gilbert Arenas echoed Hart’s sentiments, insisting that Anunoby’s game-winning bucket saved his teammate from a lot more than regret.
Watching the game live, Arenas claimed that Hart would have been eviscerated by furious New Yorkers over his mistake, should the Knicks have failed to complete the comeback.
‘Josh Hart! Josh Hart! The way this game is going, Josh Hart, that layup and that right there, you are going to be on the hate list of New York,’ Arenas said.

‘You are the guy that’s going to be blamed. I’m trying to tell you, if you don’t score now, you are the guy that’s going to be blamed.’
It marked an emotional victory for New York which hasd trailed by 29 points at one point during the third quarter.
The scenes sparked a night of chaos across the Big Apple as things once again turned rowdy.
The NYPD said Thursday morning that multiple people had been arrested outside MSG after fights broke out in the streets around the arena. People were seen climbing onto cars and light poles and a police vehicle was pictured with a damaged windshield.
