The Mets are gearing up for the start of the 2025 season, but team legend and broadcaster Keith Hernandez was admittedly ‘distracted’ while calling New York’s spring training matchup against the Astros.
During a break in the action of the 6-2 Mets win on Saturday, the cameras cut away from the diamond and to a man and woman playing pickleball in Florida.
The woman was wearing a bikini top and compression shorts, which seemingly caught the attention of the two-time World Series champion Hernandez.
‘What are they doing?,’ he said, eliciting a chuckle from colleague Gary Cohen. ‘I’m distracted.’
The jocular Hernandez was described by Awful Announcing as being in ‘midseason form’ in the clip.
‘The day Keith Hernandez retires from the broadcast booth will be a National Day of Mourning,’ a fan added on X.

The Mets will open the regular season on March 27, beginning a year with a three-game trip in Houston.
They’ll then face the Marlins three times in Miami before traveling back to New York for their home opener against the Blue Jays on April 4.
It’s been a huge offseason for the Mets as they inked Juan Soto to a massive 15-year, $765 million contract.
The team – after long negotiations – also brought back slugger Pete Alonso on a two-year, $54million pact.
