Manchester United have signed England youth international Kayla Rendell from Women’s Championship side Southampton.
Goalkeeper Rendell, 23, is a product of Southampton’s academy and is one of several youngsters who have come through the club to join the WSL.
United have been looking for a goalkeeper since England’s Mary Earps left for Paris St-Germain last summer and Rendell will join current number one Phallon Tullis-Joyce and 20-year-old Safia Middleton-Patel.
Rendell, who now represents England’s under-23s, is United’s first signing of the January transfer window and has put pen to paper contract at the club until 2027.
Upon signing, the young keeper said: “It’s a dream to be signing for Manchester United and I can’t wait to join the group and get started.
“I want to thank Southampton for all the support and opportunities they have given me since joining as a nine-year-old girl. I will always cherish so many fantastic memories of my time there.
“Now I’m ready to take the next step in my career and play my part in pushing for success at United.”
Southampton confirmed the signing of forward Araya Dennis on loan from Tottenham for the remainder of the 2024-25 campaign.
The 18-year-old has made two appearances for Spurs in all competitions, scoring her first goal in the Women’s League Cup win over Crystal Palace last month.
