Katy Perry is raising a toast to “The One That Got Away” after her ex, Josh Groban, announced his engagement to British actor Natalie McQueen.
The “Firework” singer, 41, shared her reaction to Groban and McQueen’s news in a playful TikTok shared Monday, which started out with just a screenshot of a news story about the engagement.
Perry then appeared in a white bathrobe and an exaggerated sad face as she poured a bubbly drink into a glass and raised it in a toast to the happy couple. She then chugged the drink, spilling it on her robe and pretended to sob before walking out of frame.
She captioned the post with a simple, “congrats.”
The video was soundtracked to her hit 2010 song “The One That Got Away,” which is believed to have been written about musician Groban, 45, after they dated briefly in 2009 and decided to remain friends after their break-up.
Perry sparked speculation that the song was about Groban when she referred to him as “the one that got away” during a YouTube livestream in 2017, which the “You Raise Me Up” singer was reportedly shocked to learn.
Groban said during a 2018 appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen that he spat out his coffee when he saw that Perry mentioned him on her livestream.
“It’s very sweet of her to say that. I’m very flattered by it. But I was very surprised by it, too,” he said before referencing lyrics from the song that do not point to him. “I never owned a Mustang. I don’t have a tattoo. Are you sure that’s about me?”
He added that the short-lived couple ended their fling because they were “both very private” and decided they worked better as friends. He added, “We’ve been very good friends to this day. She’s the best.”

Groban announced his engagement to McQueen, 36, on Instagram last month and shared pictures from their proposal at Disneyland.
“MY BEST FRIEND SAID YES!!!” he wrote. “Sharing this life with you is my happiest place, @nataliemcqueen.” His stage actor fiancée wrote on her own Instagram: “I don’t know if you recall but IN APRIL WE GOT ENGAGED!”
This marks Groban’s first marriage, although he has publicly dated stars like Perry, January Jones and Kat Dennings before. He and McQueen have been together since 2022.
Meanwhile, Perry has been dating former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau since last summer.
