The Kansas City Chiefs parted with defensive tackle Derrick Nnadi again in free agency, less than a year after bringing him back.

The 29-year-old was selected by Kansas City in the third round of the 2018 NFL draft and has played his entire career with the AFC West franchise, winning three Super Bowls during the team’s recent dominant dynasty.

Nnadi started 98 of his 130 regular season appearances for the Chiefs and 12 of the 18 postseason appearances he made with the club.

He joined the New York Jets in March 2025, after he became an unrestricted free agent. However, he never suited up for Gang Green as he was traded back to the Chiefs just five months later.

Nnadi has now left the Chiefs in free agency once again. This time, the three-time Super Bowl winner has agreed a deal with the Indianapolis Colts.

Nnadi signed for the veteran salary benefit, which will pay him $1,487,500, according to the Indy Star. However, he only counts against the cap as a player with two seasons, meaning Nnadi’s cap hit is only $1.075 million.

The Chiefs shared a brief farewell message to Nnadi on social media, writing: ‘Nice having you, @DerrickNnadi. Thanks for everything!’

Nnadi, who was drafted out of Florida State, has only missed a total of three regular season games throughout his eight-season career.

He has totaled 249 tackles, five sacks, seven tackles for a loss, one forced fumble and one interception.

The 6-foot-1, 317 pound star started and totaled four tackles in the Chiefs’ Super Bowl LIV victory over the San Francisco 49ers.

He also started in Kansas City’s Super Bowl LVII win over the Philadelphia Eagles in Arizona back in 2019.

Despite remaining a regular member of the Chiefs’ lineup, Nnadi’s production and playing time has dropped off in recent seasons.

After finishing the 2025 season with 16 tackles and three quarterback pressures in 15 games played, Nnadi will now bring veteran experience to the Colts’ defense.

He joins a group of defensive tackles that includes Adetomiwa Adebawore and Colby Wooden behind entrenched veterans DeForest Buckner and Grover Stewart.
