Jota Silva is seeking a fresh start in English to European football as he prepares to return to Nottingham Forest after a loan spell with Besiktas.

The Portuguese forward has spent this season with the Istanbul club, scoring four goals and claiming in an assist in 21 appearances in all competitions. Yet his playing time has stretched to only 619 minutes across all competitions.

Jota thought he had sealed a loan move to Sporting Lisbon last summer, only for the deal to collapse at the 11th hour.

Daily Mail Sport understands the 26-year-old would prefer not to return to Turkish football and is instead looking at options elsewhere.

Jota joined Forest in summer 2024 and though he was not a regular in the 2024-25 campaign, he was nonetheless popular with team-mates and supporters alike. He managed five goals and three assists, playing 38 times.

Jota Silva could revive his career at Forest next season after a frustrating loan at Besiktas

Meanwhile, Forest are preparing for their Europa League semi-final second leg at Aston Villa with doubts over Morgan Gibbs-White.

The playmaker sustained a severe facial wound after a collision with Chelsea goalkeeper Robert Sanchez in Forest’s 3-1 win at Stamford Bridge, which took them to 42 points and within touching distance of Premier League safety.

Forest will also reach the Europa League final if they avoid defeat at Villa Park, thanks to their 1-0 victory at the City Ground last weekend. Boss Vitor Pereira is hoping for ‘a miracle’ with Gibbs-White though heading the ball would clearly be a challenge with such a short time in which to recover.
