Jose Mourinho refused to rule out the possibility of managing in the Scottish Premiership during a press conference prior to the Fenerbahce vs Rangers Europa League tie.
The three-time Premier League winner was posed the question by reporters on whether he would consider managing in Scotland, specifically Glasgow, with Scottish giants Celtic and Rangers.
The Fenerbahce manager has never managed in Scotland, yet is enamoured by the ‘passion’ in Scottish football.
In response to the question, Mourinho quickly stated that he is comfortable in a job that motivates him and would not leave the Turkish side now.
He added that the job as manager requires loyalty but would consider the opportunity in the future.
‘Why not in the future people can say,’ Mourinho declared, his comments open to interpretation.

His comments came during a press conference prior to the Fenerbahce vs Rangers Europa League tie on Thursday
Mourinho is currently in charge of Turkish side Fenerbahce, who sit second in the Turkish Super League
He also added: ‘I’m not searching for a new job.’
The two-time Champions League winner is not unfamiliar with transfer speculation during his tenure with the Turkish side.
Back in October 2024, Mourinho made a remark regarding managing a ‘bottom of the table’ club in England.
He later retracted his comment as simply a joke, but fans were pleading with Mourinho to make a long-awaited return to the Premier League.
In fact, this particular quote linked him with the Everton job when Sean Dyche’s position was at risk; the Englishman was later replaced by David Moyes.
However, Celtic and Rangers fans should certainly not give up hope of the possibility of Mourinho’s magic in Scotland as his positive words on Scottish football were encouraging.
‘It’s a league of passion. For me it is everything [passion]… to play in empty stadiums in a competition where there is not that fire of passion, for me it doesn’t make any sense.

Mourinho also won the Europa League with Manchester United back in 2017
‘Celtic and Rangers… they are big clubs with big fanbases with big emotions, big responsibilities, big expectations.’
The ‘Special One’s’ comments were certainly respectful, delighting Scottish football fans.
Mourinho and his side now turn their attention to the explosive Europa League tie against Rangers on Thursday evening.
Fenerbahce will look to extend their 18-match unbeaten run against an inconsistent Rangers team who have recently changed manager to Barry Ferguson.
