Joe Rogan has come under fire after toasting the renewed use of the word ‘r****ded’, claiming it is one of the ‘great culture victories’ in the war on woke.
The UFC commentator was branded ‘repugnant’, ‘disgusting’ and ‘despicable’ over the recent comments.
Rogan has become arguably the most influential podcast host in the world, with ‘The Joe Rogan Experience’ boasting nearly 20million subscribers on YouTube.
His high-profile guests include Donald Trump and Elon Musk and his interviews regularly tackle contentious and controversial topics.
But earlier this month, the UFC commentator angered many by claiming: ‘The word “r****ded” is back’ and it’s one of the great culture victories that I think is spurred on, probably, by podcasts.’
The comments echoed sentiments he expressed on an episode last year, when he claimed ‘this woke s*** is out the window.’

The UFC commentator has interviewed the likes of Donald Trump on his popular podcast
‘Reports from the frontlines, of kids in high school today, that woke s*** is out the window,’ he said.
‘That word – r****d – comes flying out of these kids’ mouths. They’re bringing that back strong. That woke thing, it got into college and then the high school kids, the ones coming up now, they’re rejecting it.’
Rogan’s recent comments went viral and he was called out by actor and author Maureen McCormick, who accused the podcaster of celebrating ‘regression’ rather than a ‘victory’.
‘Your statement that “the ‘R’ word is back and it’s one of the great culture victories,” ignores the terrible hurt it causes to the millions of people with intellectual disabilities,’ McCormick wrote on social media. ‘This is not a victory. It is a regression.’
Her comments, posted to nearly 150,000 followers, were supported by many on social media.
‘As a the father of a beautiful autistic son, there’s no word that makes me angrier,’ one said.
‘If Joe spent 5 minutes with an intellectually disabled person he would change his take… people who think that nobody says this word to these people are clueless,’ another said, while a third added: ‘Joe Rogan is a despicable human being’
