As The Independent’s White House correspondent, I’ve spent years covering Donald Trump – travelling with him as part of the press pool, watching how decisions are made in real time, and seeing first-hand how quickly a day that starts off seeming entirely routine can progress to something extraordinary.

That volatility is now playing out on the global stage. After weeks of escalating tensions between the US and Iran – including threats of sweeping military action – the president has agreed to a fragile, two-week ceasefire with Tehran. Both sides are claiming victory, even as strikes and regional tensions raise serious questions about how long the truce can hold.

Having followed Trump through everything from tightly choreographed events to chaotic, unscripted moments on the road, I’ve seen how his freewheeling, seat-of-the-pants approach to politics at home often carries over into foreign policy – where the stakes are far higher.

With events moving quickly and uncertainty still hanging over the Middle East, I’ll be answering your questions on Trump’s global ambitions, US–Iran relations, what it’s really like travelling in the presidential press pool, and what might come next.

Submit your question now, or join me live on Thursday 9 April between 5pm and 6pm BST (12pm and 1pm ET) for the Q&A.
