Team USA star Christian Pulisic recently went through a public breakup with his girlfriend, Alexa Melton.
The soccer star, 27, and pro golfer Melton, 25, were romantically linked in June 2024 when they were spotted together at the U.S. Women’s Open golf tournament. Melton also made several appearances at Pulisic’s AC Milan matches in Italy during the club’s 125th-anniversary event in December 2024.
Pulisic, who made his 2026 World Cup debut Friday for Team USA, confirmed the relationship in his 2024 Paramount+ docuseries, PULISIC, saying that he and Melton connected when he slid into her DMs.
However, it emerged just weeks ago that the relationship had ended.
While neither Pulisic nor Melton provided a reason for the breakup, both have made public comments following the split.
Melton seemingly hinted that she and the American soccer star had split April 6, after nearly two years of dating, telling a fan in a since-deleted social media comment that “mans was on raya before it even ended,” referring to the popular dating app. While she did not mention Pulisic directly, some fans speculated that she was referencing the soccer player.
She later clarified her remarks on her Instagram Story, stating that Pulisic did not cheat on her and that she had been given “false” information.
“I’ve made some comments on a private matter and it’s been taken out of context,” she wrote. “I received false info. He is not a cheater. Any narrative beyond that is not mine. Out of respect for Christian’s and my privacy, I will not speak further regarding this matter.”
Then, a May interview with Time confirmed Pulisic and Melton had been broken up since at least February.
“I only look at her in the most positive way,” Pulisic told the publication. “She was a lot of fun, and she supported me in every way. She wanted to push me to enjoy my life a little bit more and do things with her and do things just in general. And I was grateful for that.”
At the time Pulisic’s interview came out, Melton appeared to be on an Instagram hiatus. She returned with a mid-May post thanking her supporters.
“As cliche as it is, golf really does teach you how to handle the curveballs life throws your way – how to adapt, grow, be resilient, handle your emotions,” she wrote May 17. “I didn’t know if I was going to compete this year, mentally and physically, but I’m proud of the fight so far. And that’s my focus going forward, fighting to show up each day as the best version of me.
“There’s a lot on my mind, a lot I want to say, but I’m thankful for you guys who reach out with encouraging messages, I’m appreciative of the people in my corner.”
Melton continues to compete in various golf tournaments. Pulisic and Team USA will face Australia June 19 in Seattle.
