Igor Tudor has agreed to take change of Tottenham until the end of the season after Spurs decided to appoint an experienced interim head coach to replace Thomas Frank.

Tudor, the former Croatia and Juventus centre-back, emerged as the leading candidate for the role as Spurs assessed a range of options, The Independent understands.

The 47-year-old was sacked by Juventus in October after just seven months in charge. He previously led them to a fourth-place finish in Serie A, but was dismissed following an eight-game winless run.

Tottenham decided to appoint an interim coach before naming Frank’s permanent successor in the summer. The club sit 16th in the Premier League and just five points above the relegation zone.

Their next game is not until 22 February, but it comes against Premier League leaders and north London rivals Arsenal.
