A little over a month ago, Dak Prescott and his fiancée Sarah Jane Ramos walked hand-in-hand down the red carpet at the glitzy NFL Honors in San Francisco, appearing very much in love.
The Dallas Cowboys quarterback, 32, looked suave in a light beige suit while Ramos, the mother of his two children, stunned in a plunging light-peach gown. The couple posed for pictures but ignored all the requests for an interview together, Ramos laughing as Prescott told reporters he needed to rush to the bathroom.
There were no obvious signs that day that, behind closed doors, their relationship was hanging by a thread with Ramos, who is also 32, fearing Prescott was cheating.
On Saturday, the facade came crashing down. At a joint bachelor and bachelorette party held in the Bahamas, ahead of their wedding that had been scheduled for next month, a catastrophic blowup has left things in ruins, with Ramos reportedly discovering that Prescott was sending messages to other women on a secret social media account, Page Six has reported.
On Monday, we learned that an email had been sent to wedding guests, telling them that the event had officially been called off, while Ramos has wiped any reference in her Instagram bio to being a ‘fiancée’. Her personal website still says she is engaged to Prescott, but it seems only a matter of time until that is gone too.
And while infidelity fears were the driving force behind this 11th hour drama, a source close to the couple has also revealed that Ramos feared married life would leave her miserable, with Prescott also struggling under pressure to reach a Super Bowl with the Cowboys.

‘Sarah realized that is how the relationship was going and she had to get out before it was too late,’ the source said. ‘She chose her wellbeing over misery in a loveless marriage.’
Page Six has reported that Ramos had stuck by Prescott despite the quarterback messaging women, including exes, during their time together in the hope they could make it work for their young children. They have two young daughters – Margaret, 2, and Aurora, who is not even a year old.
But while the publication says Ramos is certain the relationship is over, at least one of their friends aren’t completely certain just yet and hope that things can be worked out for the better.
‘Everyone is still friends with both,’ a friend of the couple said. ‘At the end of the day, they are going to see them all the time still at games and functions and don’t want to make it any more awkward.
‘Who knows, they might fall back in love. Nobody wants to take sides because if they then get back together, how awkward would that be?
‘Every one of their mutual friends will remain that way, it won’t be drama-filled. Nobody wants that.’
But for now, Ramos is leaning on her support network as she navigates the shock of the last few days.
Before the split was announced, she posted an array of pictures from her bachelorette, alongside the now telling caption: ‘I truly believe you can get through anything in life as long as you have really great friends. I love these girls so much.’
In a cryptic recent Instagram post, she spoke about getting through anything with her friends
Prescott, meanwhile, has not commented on their split but a source says that for now, at least, he wants football to be his sanctuary.
‘As the years have gone by and as the Cowboys haven’t won or even made the Super Bowl, Cowboys owner Jerry Jones and every fan have been on Dak’s back to make the team come first,’ the source said.
‘He thought he could have his cake and eat it too, but now the most important ring for Dak is a Super Bowl ring.’
In 2024, Jones gave Prescott a new four-year contract worth $240million to lead the Cowboys back to the biggest stage.
Jones makes no secret of how much he pines for Super Bowl glory once again and is aware that, at age 83, he doesn’t have too much time on his side. The Cowboys last lifted the Lombardi trophy in 1996.
The source added that Prescott is now determined to redouble his focus on football in order to recover from the split.
‘Dak saw the writing on the wall,’ the source added. ‘It will now give Dak complete focus to chase the accolades on the field. This could be the best news for Cowboys fans in over thirty years.’

Prescott proposed to Ramos in October 2024, seven months after the birth of their first child – daughter MJ.
In May 2025, they welcomed their second daughter, Aurora Rayne, to become a family of four.
Prescott, who played college football for the Mississippi State Bulldogs, was selected by the Cowboys with the 135th overall pick in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft.
After immediately becoming starting quarterback, he has made a total of 139 appearances in 10 years with the team, while racking up 35,989 passing yards for 243 touchdowns.
