Hulk Hogan’s death has been ruled natural nearly a year after his passing at age 71.
According to the Daily Mail, the Clearwater, Florida, police department confirmed findings that the pro wrestler suffered “an attended natural death” before officially closing an investigation on Friday.
The 72-page report also noted that “through the course of the investigation, there has been no evidence to indicate any criminal wrongdoing related to his death.”
Per the outlet, investigators wrote, “Following an exhaustive review of the statements, medical records, surveillance footage from within the residence, and a visual inspection of Mr. Bollea’s body, there has been no evidence to indicate the death of Terry Bollea was anything other than natural.”
In their statement, the Clearwater Police Department praised the Hogan family — including his widow Sky Daily, kids Nick and Brooke Hogan, and attorney Kevin Hayslett — for “their willingness to allow our investigators access to very personal information, at a time when they were grieving and struggling,” noting that it “was extremely helpful.”
They added, “We would not have had the legal justification to obtain much of the information without their cooperation.”
Reps for the Clearwater Police Department, as well as for Brooke, Nick and Sky did not immediately respond to Page Six’s requests for comment.
The WWE star, whose real name was Terry Gene Bollea, died on July 24, 2025, after collapsing at his Florida estate and being transported to a local hospital.
Investigators had gone over recordings from the incident and interviewed witnesses, including the athlete’s occupational therapist — who was said to have been present when he stopped breathing and attempted to get help — before initially determining he died at a local hospital after suffering an acute myocardial infarction at his Florida home.
The therapist allegedly claimed after a 911 call was made to the wrestler’s home that Hogan had been a victim of medical malpractice, according to law enforcement sources for TMZ, and that the occupational therapist claimed at the scene that a surgeon allegedly “severed” the WWE star’s phrenic nerve during a recently performed surgery.
Per the Cleveland Clinic, the phrenic nerve is primarily responsible for breathing, and damage to it can cause serious breathing issues.
TMZ’s sources also claimed that the athlete had abruptly stopped breathing and did not “have a chest-clenching episode” during the cardiac arrest.
But the occupational therapist pointed out during a later police interview that he’s “not a neurosurgeon,” and said he’d had limited interactions with Hulk after only having been employed by him for two weeks prior to his death.
A July 2025 autopsy stated that Hulk died of acute myocardial infarction, and that he had a history of atrial fibrillation and leukemia CLL.
In October 2025, the family filed a petition to extend the statute of limitations in order to complete an investigation into the medical malpractice claims.
Daughter Brooke had previously raised concerns about the wrestler’s “weird” death.
In August 2025, the actress questioned her father’s leukemia diagnosis, telling Bubba the Love Sponge at the time, “We don’t have cancer that runs in our family. It seems weird.”
She later emphasized her “uncertainty” via Instagram Stories, saying that “anyone” in her position “would want answers.”
She added at the time, “I don’t think anyone thinks there’s foul play suspected, but the man had a very complicated medical history.”
