Horrifying scenes unfolded in Cabo San Lucas, Mexico on Wednesday night after a car plowed through fans who were celebrating the national side’s World Cup win.
The tragic incident unfolded just hours after Mexico’s 3-0 win over Czechia, as thousands of fans took to the city’s streets to take part in the jubilant festivities.
However, as seen in a TikTok video which has gone viral, the celebrations were interrupted when a black car barreled through a packed street, colliding with fans.
In the video, fans were partying in the streets when the car emerged into shot and drove into a huge crowd of people, seemingly dragging fans as they went.
Some fans who were standing just a few feet away quickly turned their attention to the scenes unfolding behind them and began chasing down the black car.
Meanwhile, other fans began checking on the fans who had been mowed down by the vehicle and could be heard calling for help as they rushed to their aid.

In a video that emerged online, a black sedan was seen driving through a crowd in Mexico
According to local reports, a total of seventeen people were injured as a result of the reckless act, which occurred at 10pm local time in a popular tourist area of Cabo San Lucas. Health authorities added that one person had been left in critical condition.
Meanwhile, authorities said that the driver was detained at the scene.
According to the General Directorate of Public Security of Los Cabos, the driver said that fans had blocked his path and were putting physical pressure on his car, which led to him proceeding to drive through the crowd.
At the time of writing, no charges have been filed as authorities continue to investigate the incident.
The incident occurred during nationwide celebrations, which saw hundreds of thousands of fans take to the streets of Mexico to begin partying after their win.
In response to the horrific scenes, the Mexican Football Federation said on social media that it ‘deeply regrets’ the incident, and called on the authorities to ‘clarify what happened and determine the corresponding responsibilities.’

Dr. Jose Manuel Larumbe Pineda, First Councilor Acting Municipal President for the Ministry of Law said: ‘On behalf of the Honorable XV City Council of Los Cabos, I wish to express our deep solidarity with the affected individuals and their families for the regrettable events that occurred tonight.’
‘Our commitment is to ensure care for the victims, provide support to their families, fully cooperate with the authorities, and keep the public informed with official and verified data.
‘To those currently going through this difficult situation, we reiterate that you are not alone; the City Council will continue to provide all the necessary institutional support.’
In similar scenes last week, following Mexico’s win over South Korea in their second game at the World Cup, a pickup truck driver plowed into a group of fans celebrating in Chihuahua City.
