Home Improvement star Zachery Ty Bryan has been sentenced to 16 months in jail following his February 2024 arrest on DUI charges.
The former child star, 44, was sentenced Monday in California after pleading guilty to felony driving under the influence and a misdemeanor for alleged contempt of court.
According to court records obtained by People, Bryan was rearraigned and struck a plea deal with prosecutors at the Larson Justice Center after he pleaded guilty to the DUI charge. He also admitted to an enhancement related to having two prior DUI convictions, according to the records.
In addition to 16 months in county jail, Bryan was denied probation. He has 57 days of jail credit, meaning he will serve over 14 months.
“Deputies assigned to the La Quinta Sheriff’s Station conducted a traffic stop in the area of Washington Street and Calle Tampico in La Quinta on a vehicle suspected of being involved in a recent traffic collision,” Sergeant Wendy Brito-Gonzalez told Fox News Digital at the time.
“When deputies contacted the driver, they observed indications of impairment, leading to the driver’s arrest for driving under the influence with priors.”
Brito-Gonzalez added: “The driver, later identified as 42-year-old Zachery Bryan, was booked into a Riverside County jail.”
The Independent has contacted Bryan’s representatives for comment.
The recent California sentencing marks the latest development in a string of legal troubles over the past five years for the father of eight.
Bryan is due in court in Lane County, Oregon, on March 2 for a probation violation hearing, in connection with a domestic violence conviction from July 2023.

At the time, Bryan was arrested in Eugene, Oregon, following a report of a physical dispute. He was held in Lane County Jail on Assault in the Fourth Degree APA (Abuse Prevention Act), third-degree robbery and misdemeanor harassment charges.
In November 2025, he was arrested for violating the probation he was serving for a previous domestic violence conviction. His fiancée, Johnnie Faye Cartwright, was also arrested and booked at the same jail. Bryan denied violating his probation at his December 3 arraignment.
Cartwright, 32, was later arraigned and pleaded not guilty to one count of driving under the influence, two counts of recklessly endangering another person and three counts of reckless driving.
Bryan is best known for his performance as Brad Taylor on the ABC sitcom Home Improvement as a child, which ran from 1991 to 1999. Bryan also appeared in shows including Veronica Mars and Smallville, and in movies such as First Kid and The Fast and the Furious: Tokyo Drift.
