Comedian Rob Schneider has inserted himself into MLB’s latest Pride Night controversy, offering to pay future fines for players who display religious messaging.

Schneider made the offer while launching a blistering attack on league executives, accusing baseball’s governing body of holding a deep bias against Christians.

The row erupted after MLB issued warnings to a trio of San Francisco Giants pitchers who used their game-day caps to showcase their personal faith on the mound.

Giants stars Landen Roupp, JT Brubaker, and Ryan Walker drew the ire of league officials on Friday after scrawling handwritten references to Genesis 9:12-16 on their rainbow-themed caps.

Adding to the clubhouse divide, fellow Giants pitcher Sam Hentges elected to opt out of the Pride festivities entirely, choosing to take the field in the club’s standard black cap instead.

Schneider caught wind of the fallout and took to social media to vent his fury, making an open-ended promise to back any player who pushes back against uniform rules.

‘I will pay the fines for any MLB Christian player who wears a Bible verse on their uniform,’ Schneider wrote in a fiery post on X, before claiming that the ‘MLB is ANTI-CHRISTIAN.’

Major League Baseball moved quickly to de-escalate the brewing culture war, releasing an official statement clarifying that the reprimands were strictly procedural rather than an attack on faith.

League officials emphasized that the verbal warnings carried no financial penalties, insisting the rules regarding uniform modifications are applied uniformly regardless of the message.

‘To be clear, this routine verbal warning not to wear the hat in future games is not disciplinary and had absolutely nothing to do with the content of the message,’ the league noted in a statement.

‘We respect players’ right to free expression,’ the statement continued. ‘However, writing of any kind, with any message, is prohibited.’ The league noted it has issued identical warnings for family names.

Speaking to reporters inside the clubhouse, Roupp defended his decision to alter his cap, explaining that the specific Genesis verse represents the core foundations of his daily life.

‘It’s just about God’s covenant and a promise that he makes to us, his faithfulness and his mercy,’ Roupp explained. ‘That’s just kind of something I believe in, and I stand firm in that.’

Meanwhile, Hentges also spoke out to clear the air regarding his decision to bypass the rainbow cap.

‘It’s just something that I feel like I was forced to support when I don’t morally support it,’ Hentges admitted, adding that his teammates and family fully supported him.

Major League Baseball celebrates Pride Month every June but subtle protests across teams are not unheard of.

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Blake Treinen wore a regular cap without the rainbow logo during Pride Night at the World Series winners earlier in June.

Last season, his Dodgers teammate Clayton Kershaw referenced the same Bible verse as Roupp did on the team’s Pride Night.
