President Donald Trump claimed the Iranians called former President Barack Obama a “stupid son of a b****” over the deal the Democrat reached with the nation in 2015.

The president made the bold claim Wednesday during a testy bilateral meeting at the G7 summit in the French Alps, alongside an uncomfortable-looking Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi, where Trump also blamed Democrats for the “made-up” affordability crisis.

Trump was raging about the memorandum of understanding reached between the United States and Iran, which is yet to be published by the administration, and compared it to the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action negotiated by Obama in 2015—the agreement between Iran, the U.S., the European Union and other nations ripped up by Trump during his first term.

“He gave him $1.7 billion in cash, green cash from banks into a Boeing 757 and flew it into Iran,” Trump said of the settlement approved by the Obama administration. “He tried to bribe his way out. I didn’t do that. Nobody mentions that… And you know what the Iranians did?”

“They laughed at Obama,” Trump continued. “And they said, ‘He’s a stupid son of a b****.”

In response, the former president said that Trump’s eventual deal with Iran will likely not be a significant departure from the agreement he inked with Tehran in 2015.

“It is doubtful that any agreement that arises is going to be significantly different, or in a significant improvement from the deal that we had in the first place, and had worked for a long stretch of time before we, the United States, pulled out of it,” Obama told ABC’s Robin Roberts in an interview on Good Morning America.

In addition to railing against Obama, Trump took the opportunity at the summit to bash Democrats over the affordability crisis, which he has previously referred to as a “hoax.”

The president campaigned in 2024 on a platform to bring down costs for struggling Americans, but amid his sweeping tariffs and initiating the war in Iran, a majority disapprove of how he has handled the economy, according to recent polling. The Iran war has seen gas prices skyrocket.

“We have a very hot stock market, and we have a very…started to be a very low oil price, and that’s going to have a huge impact on affordability caused by the Democrats,” Trump said. “The Democrats have caused so many problems, you have no idea.”

The president went on to complain that from his first day on the job, Democrats and reporters asked him about affordability. “I’m in the office for one day, and I had my first news conference, and they said, ‘Affordability, sir, affordability, what are you doing about it?’ I said, ‘I’ve just been here one day.’ They’re the ones that cause affordability,” he continued.

“It’s just another con job. They made up the word affordability, but we’re bringing prices down a lot, and they’re coming down fast.”

Still, Americans are unhappy with Trump’s handling of the economy, according to recent polling. His net approval rating for handling of inflation and the pricing is negative 43, according to The Economist and YouGov, the lowest it has been of his second term.
