John Daly had his caddie to thank on Monday after being saved from a fall while removing his ball from the penalty area.
The former Open champion was playing in the Colourguard Classic and it was in the final round in which the incident happened. John Cooley was the caddie that stepped in.
A video shared to Daly’s social media page showed the 59-year-old taking his shot, before falling on his front and seemingly starting to slide down a hill.
Cooley and one other onlooker then rushed to save Daly, who saw the funny side of things when he shared the video on social media.
He posted alongside the video: ‘On today’s episode of Jacka**,’ and captioned it: ‘Bellyfloppin’ in the desert. True buddy sliding in to save.’
The comment on the post, which was shared to Daly’s 1.1million followers, included: ‘Best video of all time,’ and: ‘That’s commitment.’

Daly, the former Open champion, was looking for his first top-10 finish on the over-50s tour in three years
Concerns were raised though due to Daly having undergone 16 operations in the last four years due to tangled tendons in his hands.
He was heading for his first top-10 finish in the Over-50s tour in three years after making it through the first 10 holes four-under at La Paloma Country Club in Tucson.
An erratic effort on a 508-yard drive sent him into the penalty area, however, which led to his fall.
Not long after Cooley, who is a singer-songwriter by trade, jumped in to help his friend, the duo emerged arm in arm without injury.
Daly finished the event in a tie for 29th at six under – nine strokes behind winner Steve Alker.
He will next be in action at the Hoag Classic in California in two weeks before heading to the Masters.
