Grace Hayden rose to fame on the back of her cricket coverage and huge social media presence – and now she has made a head-turning career move by joining a motorsport TV show.

The 23-year-old has been announced as part of Fox Sports’ coverage of the Shannons SpeedSeries competition, which features powerful GT cars from brands like Porsche, Ferrari and Mercedes.

It’s a radical departure for Hayden, who has a following of almost 900,000 on Instagram and TikTok.

She has been seen by millions of cricket fans through her work covering the Indian Premier League for Star Sports on the subcontinent, in addition to featuring on broadcasts of the Big Bash League.

Hayden has also starred on horse-racing coverage after getting her break when she became Channel Seven’s Oaks Day ambassador in 2022.

She moved on to do more work with Seven’s racing team and also landed an exciting role as the lead presenter for Hong Kong-based digital platform, Racing X.

The job sees her travel the globe covering different sporting events in places like Saudi Arabia, New Zealand and Las Vegas.

Hayden will be joined by Bathurst 1000 winner Nick Percat, and experienced motorsport presenters Greg Rust and Chris Stubbs for the SpeedSeries coverage.

‘Bringing in Nick Percat and Grace Hayden will inject new life into the series with fresh ideas, and it will go a long way in assisting the Shannons SpeedSeries’ growth,’ said SRO Motorsports Australia CEO Ben McMellan.

Hayden is currently dating Wilson Statham, who is the son of Queensland cotton moguls Danielle and David Statham.

Grace and Wilson went public with their romance at the Randwick races in 2024 and were spotted a month later holding hands at a Sydney pub.

Wilson’s parents, Danielle and David, own and operate the Sundown Pastoral Company, a family-run but privately owned cotton and cropping enterprise.

Their empire spans over 70,000ha across Queensland and northern NSW.

The daughter of cricket legend Matthew Hayden never planned on working in sports media.

‘I never thought life would take me in this direction,’ she said.

‘I was always super sporty. (I) tried every sport growing up, and I’ve always loved being in front of the camera.’

Her famous father, who played for Chennai Super Kings, sparked her interest in all things India.

‘He used to bring home spices and we would cook Indian food together,’ she said.

‘Then I started visiting myself for the IPL and embraced the fashion, the people, the energy.

‘It’s different from Australia, but it feels like home.’
