Future Offshore Wind Technologies Industrial Research

A share of up to £10 million for UK-registered organisations is available to support industrial research in offshore wind.

This competition opens on 7 April 2026 and closes at 11am on 3 June 2026.

Who it is for

This competition is open to collaborations only.

To lead a collaborative project, your organisation must be a UK-registered business of any size. The consortium must contain at least one UK-registered micro, small or medium-sized enterprise (SME) claiming grant funding on this application.

To collaborate with the lead, your organisation must be one of the following UK-registered

  • business of any size
  • academic institution
  • research and technology organisation (RTO)

Your project must

  • focus on industrial research in one of three priority areas
  • have total costs of between £150,000 and £1.5 million
  • last between 12 and 18 months
  • start by 1 October 2026
  • end by 31 March 2028

Support you can get

This competition supports mid-stage innovation projects within offshore wind, aligned with the Offshore Wind Industrial Growth Plan.

This competition is split into two strands

  • Future Offshore Wind Technologies Feasibility Studies
  • Future Offshore Wind Technologies Industrial Research (this strand)

For this strand, you can get funding for your eligible project costs of up to

  • 70% if you are a micro or small organisation
  • 60% if you are a medium-sized organisation
  • 50% if you are a large organisation
