Contracts for Innovation Accessible information on coaches
Innovate UK is offering businesses a share of £680,000 to create new technology that makes coach travel more accessible.
The competition, funded by the Department for Transport, aims to develop affordable and easy-to-use solutions that provide clear audio and visual information on coaches, particularly for rail replacement services.
Projects must run from May 2025 to March 2026, with budgets between £50,000 and £170,000. The funding supports businesses of all sizes across the UK, working alone or with partners, to design technology that complies with new accessibility regulations in force in England, Scotland and Wales.
Successful solutions need to be simple to install, compatible with existing systems, and affordable for operators. Collaboration with coach operators and disability groups is essential to ensure the technology meets real-world needs.
Applications close on 12 February 2025 at 11am.
