A former Premier League goal machine was hurried to hospital on Sunday after developing a ‘rapid heartbeat’.
The star, one of the Saudi Pro League’s most prolific men, was forced to miss training after the heart rate complication caused by ‘physical stress’.
His health is now being monitored by his club, Al-Hilal, and he is a doubt for Tuesday’s Asian Champions League clash with Uzbek club Pakhtakor.
Aleksandar Mitrovic left Fulham for Al-Hilal for £46million in 2023 on the back of his best Premier League season, in which he scored 14 goals.
He was an integral part of Al-Hilal’s title-winning 2023-24 season and is still one of the division’s top scorers despite missing almost every game in 2025 due to a hamstring injury.
‘The medical staff has decided to rest Aleksandar Mitrovic from Sunday’s training due to feeling fatigue and arrhythmias,’ Al-Hilal said in a statement.

He had only recently returned from a hamstring blow which has made him miss most of 2025
Mitrovic left Fulham for Saudi Arabia for £46million in 2023, much to Marco Silva’s chagrin
‘He will be observed accurately by specialists, as his case will be monitored constantly.’
The former Newcastle striker is now said to be in a stable condition and has been discharged.
Mitrovic only made his return from his hamstring injury on March 3, coming on as a substitute against Al-Fayah and scoring a goal in a 2-0 victory.
He has hit 21 goals in 25 games this season, also adding three assists, as he continues to have a strong impact at the age of 30.
The Serbian often struggled for consistency in English football and took several attempts to translate his red-hot Championship form into a strong Premier League goal tally.
However, after a blistering 2021-22 season saw him score a record 43 Championship goals in a 46-game season, he then stepped up to the top flight and scored 14 to help Fulham finish 10th.
Manager Marco Silva was not impressed with the manner of his exit in the summer of 2023, though.
‘Mitrovic forced everything to leave the club. Both clubs have an agreement, it’s the moment for him to leave,’ he said.
‘He forced it. It’s clear what he did. I’m not saying if I’m disappointed or not in him, he knows my opinion, I told him in private. It was not just Mitrovic in our football club in the last three or four weeks.
‘Is it normal? No. Should footballers behave in this way? No, is the easy answer. It was not like it should be in many aspects.’
