Former New York Jets quarterback Browning Nagle has died at the age of 57 after a battle with colon cancer.

Nagle, who is also remembered as a Fiesta Bowl legend during his time with Louisville, spent five years in the NFL and also had stints with the Falcons and Colts.

The tragic news was confirmed by his alma mater, who said in a statement on X: ‘We are saddened by the passing of Browning Nagle, former Fiesta Bowl MVP quarterback and Louisville great.

‘His leadership on the field and passion for the game left a lasting mark on our program. Our thoughts are with his loved ones and teammates during this time.’

Nagle enjoyed an impressive college career, throwing for 4,653, yards and 32 touchdowns during two seasons as a starter, earning MVP honors along the way.

His performances for Louisville caught the attention of NFL scouts and in the 1991 Draft, he was selected as the 34th overall pick by the Jets.

Despite a strong start to life with the Gang Green, throwing for 366 yards and two touchdowns in his first start, things quickly fell apart for Nagle.

He was later released prior to the 1994 season and later picked up by the Colts.

Nagle started just one game for the Colts, where he made eight completions on 21 attempts and 69 yards with no touchdowns and one interception.
