Firefighters have been tackling a large wildfire at Delamere Forest in Cheshire.
Six fire engines were sent to the blaze at the land near Northwich at about 15:10 BST, with crews using beaters and water from a nearby lake to put out the flames.
Motorists and walkers were warned about large amounts of smoke in the area, Cheshire Fire and Rescue Service said.
Station Road, which runs through the beauty spot, was closed by Cheshire Police at 17:10 BST and drivers were warned to find alternative routes.
It said firefighters were “making good progress” and nearby residents had been made aware of the situation.
At least one fire engine was likely to remain overnight to continue damping down and to monitor hotspots.
