A Wirral couple convicted of murdering their baby boy have been jailed.

Three-month-old Miguel Pirjani died in November 2024 after suffering a fractured skull and rib fractures.

Miguel’s parents, Klevi Pirjani and Nivalda Santos Pirjani, were initially arrested and charged with causing grievous bodily harm and Section 18 wounding with intent. Following the infant’s death, they were subsequently charged with murder, Section 18 assault, and causing or allowing the death of a child.

Klevi is heard in a 999 call referring to Miguel as “It.”

On 29 October, the jury found the pair guilty of murder and Section 18 assault with intent. Klevi was also found guilty of causing or allowing the death of a child, of which Nivalda had already pleaded guilty during the course of the trial.

Klevi was sentenced to life in prison with a minimum of 19 years. Nivalda was given life in prison with a minimum of 15 years, three months.
