Two men were killed and three others critically injured in New York City after a suspected drunk driver lost control of his car and ploughed onto a pavement.
The incident occurred on Friday night around 6 p.m. in the Manhattan Valley neighbourhood, when a 61-year-old driver in a black Mercedes-Benz SUV allegedly struck multiple parked vehicles before hitting a group of men outside a barber shop.
Witnesses described the scene as a ‘horror show’, with one of the deceased men reportedly disfigured and pinned under the driver’s car.
Police confirmed two men, aged 35 and 46, died at the scene, while three others, aged 36, 44, and 51, were hospitalised in critical condition.
The driver was taken into custody, and the NYPD’s Collision Investigation Squad is investigating the fatal crash.
