Football fans have been left outraged and calling for a college star to be suspended after spotting a ‘dirty’ play on Nebraska’s Dylan Raiola.
Raiola led the Cornhuskers to a dramatic 34-31 win over the Maryland Terrapins on Saturday, on a night where he threw four touchdowns, as well as three interceptions.
It was a rollercoaster evening for Raiola who struggled to remain consistent but still completed 20 of his 29 passes for 260 yards.
However, the night ended in terrible fashion for the young QB after he was targeted by a rival player when he was attempting to limp off the field due to an injury.
Footage of the incident went viral on social media shortly after it happened, with Maryland’s Cam Rice barging into Raiola as he tried to hobble off.
Officials immediately threw down a flag and Rice was hit with an unsportsmanlike penalty, however fans were adamant that further punishment is needed.

Taking to X, one fan wrote: ‘Maryland defensive lineman Cam Rice should lose his scholarship for this meaningless unsportsmanlike stunt.’
Another said: ‘His coach needs to cut him. Let the coach decide the definition of cut in this situation.’
Someone else wrote: ‘Not just that, but NFL teams should immediately know they don’t want this loser on the field’.
‘If you target a limping QB, you’re not playing tough you’re playing dirty. Suspension shouldn’t be optional,’ another said.
Thankfully for Raiola, the ‘dirty’ act didn’t have an affect on the score and the Cornhuskers were able to leave with the win on the night.
For a moment, it looked as though Maryland would pull off the win but, with just over a minute remaining in the fourth, Raiola stepped up when it mattered.
The Cornhuskers signal-caller picked out Dane Key in the endzone to help complete the comeback, before Kyle Cunanan secured the conversion.
In other college football drama on Saturday, Penn State quarterback Drew Allar was been ruled out for the remainder of the season after suffering an injury.
Fans were quick to take to social media and vent their fury at Rice over the incident

It was a nightmare evening for the Nittany Lions as Allar limped off the field in the fourth quarter of their shock 22-21 defeat to Northwestern.
The QB took a big hit, after being sandwiched between two tacklers, before receiving medical treatment and then later being carted to the locker room.
After the game, Penn State head coach James Franklin confirmed that the injury was serious and that Allar would not feature for the team again this season.
With that, it means that Allar’s college football career will come to an immediate end, given that he is a senior and out of eligibility beyond the current season.
