The viral media storm involving New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and insider Dianna Russini has taken a dark turn after decade-old allegations resurfaced.

A story published in Page Six on Tuesday night revealed images of Patriots head coach Vrabel and Russini ‘holding hands and hugging’ at a luxury hotel in Arizona.

Sources told Page Six that the two – who are both married to other people – spent time together at the hotel’s outdoor patio on March 28.

They were also spotted on a private rooftop ‘hugging at sunset and weaving their fingers together as they [stood] face-to-face’ before briefly dancing together.

Sources close to Vrabel and Russini say both people were at the hotel with other friends which were not visible in pictures.

The poolside photos have brought fresh attention to allegations from 2015, when the wife of a former Washington GM made a series of explosive, graphic claims.

The drama involving New England Patriots head coach Mike Vrabel and NFL insider Dianna Russini has deepened after old cheating allegations from 2015 resurfaced

In 2015, Jessica McCloughan, wife of then-GM Scot McCloughan, posted a comment on social media which accused Russini of trading sexual favors for internal team scoops.

Jessica McCloughan, wife of then-GM Scot McCloughan, posted a comment on social media which accused Russini of trading sexual favors for team scoops.

At the time, Russini was a reporter for ESPN and had broken several major stories regarding the dysfunction within the Washington front office.

McCloughan’s tweets were vulgar, explicitly questioning how many sexual favors Russini had provided to secure her high-profile news breaks on the team.

She further claimed that Russini was her husband’s ‘new side chick,’ sparking a massive internal investigation and a PR crisis for the franchise.

‘@diannaESPN @Alan_Bal21 I’m pretty sure this info is coming from my husband to his new side chick (dianna) it’s confirmed,’ she wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

The team initially claimed the account was ‘fake,’ but Jessica eventually admitted to the posts and issued a formal public apology for the slur.

‘The comment was unfounded and inappropriate,’ McCloughan stated in 2015, expressing her ‘utmost respect’ for both Russini and the network.

Despite the apology, the saga became a permanent footnote in NFL history, often cited as a cautionary tale regarding team and media relations.

Meanwhile, in the wake of the recent drama, sources close to Vrabel and Russini say both people were at the hotel with other friends which were not visible in pictures.

In a statement to Page Six, Vrabel said, ‘These photos show a completely innocent interaction and any suggestion otherwise is laughable. This doesn’t deserve any further response.’

Russini told Page Six, ‘The photos don’t represent the group of six people who were hanging out during the day. Like most journalists in the NFL, reporters interact with sources away from stadiums and other venues.’

The pair have known each other for some time. When she was working at ESPN, Russini’s first NFL beat was to cover the Tennessee Titans – who were coached by Vrabel at the time.
