England are set to be without their wing sensation Immanuel Feyi-Waboso for the Six Nations after he opted to have shoulder surgery which will keep him out until at least mid-March.
As first reported by Mail Sport, the 22-year-old Exeter prodigy — who scored five tries in his first eight Tests last year — faced a ‘50-50’ call last weekend over whether to have an operation, after dislocating a shoulder in the Premiership game at Sale before Christmas.
Now it is understood he has chosen to go ahead with the procedure, rather than having patch-up rehab and playing on. The projected recovery time is 10-12 weeks.
An initial scan proved inconclusive, so Feyi-Waboso had a second one early last week.
At first, it appeared a non-surgical course of action was most likely, which would have suited England.
Instead, the national team will be deprived of one of their deadliest back-line assets for the Six Nations campaign, which starts against Ireland in Dublin on February 1.
